Bloogla

Everything a blog needs, in one small program. A lighter WordPress alternative with signed updates, two-factor login and no plugins to patch.

  • Released
  • Rust
  • MIT

Bloogla is a blog engine that fits in one small program. That one file runs the site, the admin panel and the HTTPS certificate. There is no PHP, no database server and no plugins to keep updated.

A smaller system also has less to attack, which is why we built it this way.

Why it’s safer to run

  • Strict security by default, so you don’t need to configure it yourself.
  • Two-factor login for your admin accounts.
  • Signed updates. It checks that a new version is a genuine Bloogla before installing it.
  • HTTPS built in, with certificates from Let’s Encrypt handled automatically.
  • Daily backups, and one-click backup and restore.

What it does

  • A visual editor with drafts, scheduling and revisions
  • Seven themes with light and dark modes
  • Search, comments and a contact form with spam protection
  • Analytics without cookies or personal data
  • Import from WordPress, and export as a WordPress file or Markdown
  • Available in English, German, French, Lithuanian and Turkish

Current status

Bloogla has versioned releases, written in Rust and published under the MIT licence. You can run it with Docker or as a single program on Linux and Windows.
